Start, Join, & Complete Your Shift

Start/Join Shift


Step 1: Sign in to your Bite Ninja account at https://app.biteninja.com. An hour before your shift begins, you will receive a notification to acknowledge your shift. You can view your notifications by clicking the bell icon located in the upper right corner of your screen.




Step 2: Next you need to acknowledge your shift before it begins. To do this, navigate to your “My Shifts” page. 


 



Once you see your shift, click on the button labeled "Ready" to acknowledge your shift. 



After you click “Ready,” the banner will change to “Acknowledged.” Now that your shift is acknowledged, you can start & join your shift up to 15 minutes before it is scheduled to begin.

Step 3: When you are ready to join your shift, click on Start.



When you click Start, the button will then turn blue and say “Join.” 

When you click Join, you will be directed automatically to the Ninja Portal:





If Ninja Portal does not automatically open for you, open a new tab and type in zenu.biteninja.com.



Connect


*PLEASE NOTE: These steps are for shifts that use Zoom. If the video is embedded into Ninja Portal (no "Open Zoom" button), you can skip these steps. Just make sure you allow camera and microphone permissions.

Step 4: Now that you have joined your shift, it’s time to connect to Zoom and Ninja Portal. 


First, you will click “Open Zoom” in the upper right corner of the screen. You should receive a popup/notification from your computer asking for permission to open or run Zoom. Once you allow permission, you will be connected to the camera. 




Step 5: The next step is to connect to the Ninja Portal. Click the gray bubble with the play button below your name.


It should then appear green and say “Connected.”

You are now connected to your shift and are ready to take orders.




Complete Shift


Step 6: When your shift is over, you need to complete your shift. Disconnect from Zoom, and close out the Ninja Portal (if you are not closing the restaurant, make sure the next Ninja is ready before you disconnect- otherwise there will be a gap in service).


Go back to your shifts page. Your completed shift will now have a button that says “Complete.”



When you click “Complete,” a popup will appear. After you click “Confirm,” the shift will be moved to your “Past Shifts” tab:




There, you can rate your shift.



How do I take over the shift from another Ninja when my shift begins?

  • FOR SHIFTS USING ZOOM: Keep your mic/audio on mute until you’re ready to begin. Utilize the Chat feature of Zoom to let the other Ninja know you are ready. They will notify you when they are ready to leave. After they exit Zoom, you can click the gray "Play" button to take control of the Customer Display Screen, and begin taking orders.
  • FOR SHIFTS USING WEBRTC (NO ZOOM): Let the previous Ninja know that you are ready in the Ninja Chat (Bite Ninja app chat)
  • FOR NINJAQ: It's not necessary! 



What will happen if I forget to click "ready" on my shift?

  • It is important that you remember to acknowledge your shift! (That is what you are doing when you click "ready"). This is to ensure coverage, and you have up to 30 minutes prior to your shift to do so. If you haven't by 30 minutes prior, your shift will get reassigned to anyone who has placed a new bid on it (otherwise known as a "Contingency" or "Emergency" bid). Once a shift is reassigned, there will be no switching back.
  • You will receive 2 notifications prompting you to acknowledge your shift, beginning 1 hour before the scheduled start time. If you aren't receiving these alerts, please submit a support ticket.



It's my first time using NinjaQ, what do I do when I join my shift?


If you are unable to connect to Ninja Portal when you join your shift:

  • Please see related article: Connecting to Ninja Portal for more details. If you need additional help, contact the CSS team in the HQ chat and they will provide further assistance. 



If you have any app issues while attempting to start, join, or complete you shift:

  • Be sure to submit a support ticket to report the issue. If it is urgent or time-sensitive, you can also contact the CSS team in the chat for help.
