Bidding on Shifts

Created by Bite Ninja Support, Modified on Sat, 6 May, 2023 at 5:10 PM by Bite Ninja Support

Step 1: View available shifts to find a shift that matches your availability. See this article for help: View Available Shifts

Each shift that is available for bids will appear like this:

Step 2: Click on the BID icon in the top right corner:

Step 3: Confirm that your bid was successful. The shift should disappear from this screen and you should see this pop-up:

You can then click Bid On in the navigational menu:

Select the shift date, and confirm the shift has moved to your bids. The status will say “Bid On” and you will see a red “Cancel Bid”  button if your bid was successful:

REMEMBER- When bidding on a shift, you are agreeing to work that entire shift if it is assigned to you. Shift bids are not guaranteed. If you have notifications enabled, you will be notified if you have won the bid for that shift.

Note: The above images are from the desktop version of the Bite Ninja platform. The steps for the mobile app will be the same, but the images may differ slightly. Please contact us if you have any questions.

How long does it take to find out if my bid has been approved?

  •  It depends on the amount of time until the shift is scheduled to begin. For same-day shifts, you may find out right away. Shifts that begin in 1 hour or less must be manually assigned by our CSS team.
  • Otherwise, the app uses an algorithm to assign shifts and is always evolving and improving. Rest assured, if you have notifications enabled in your app profile, you will receive a notification if the shift has been assigned to you. You can also view all of your assigned shifts in the My Shifts tab in the app.

“I accidentally bid on a shift that I can’t work. What should I do?”

  • You can cancel your shift bid. Canceling a bid before the shift is assigned will not negatively affect your reliability rating. Please see this article for help with canceling a shift bid.

If you get an error message when attempting to bid on a shift...

  • Refresh the page. There is a chance that the shift was assigned to another Ninja right before you attempted to bid. If this is the case, the shift will have disappeared from the “Available Shifts” list.
  • If the shift remains, attempt to do a hard refresh of the browser page by pressing and holding CTRL+SHIFT+R or CTRL+F5 at the same time. Attempt to bid again. If you continue to get the same error message, contact the CSS team in the app or submit a support ticket by clicking here.
